Bulgaria Eager to Opt in European Crisis Resolution Mechanism Bulgaria is interested in opting in the European permanent crisis resolution mechanism and believes it should not be confined to the euro area, the finance minister has said.
"I think that for eurozone countries it should be mandatory but for the other member states there should be the possibility of voluntarily opting in. I think Bulgaria has an interest to opt in," Minister Simeon Djankov said in interview for WAZ.EUobserver.
He pointed out that this and last year some non-euro members, namely Romania and Hungary, needed help and the eurozone reacted.
A European Union summit on December 16-17 is expected to agree to establish a permanent crisis-resolution mechanism for indebted euro-area countries.
EU leaders are likely to back the limited treaty changes needed to allow the mechanism to be set up from 2013 to stabilize the euro.
